Feature article is about things that are Broken, Worn Out, or Needing Service of Some Kind. Following are some reviews and random thoughts. It's 28-pages and digest-size (5 1/2 x 8 1/2-inches). (A sample page appears below.) Available in the b&w print version, postpaid to the USA for $3 cash or payable to my PayPal account. Issue #47 of the Ken Chronicles

Image
The Ken Chronicles #47, was published in early May, 2018, and features a full color cover due to my monotone laser copier dying on me. It's digest-sized with 24 pages including the cover wrap and contains numerous photos inside, most of them in b&w. Besides the usual letters of comment, there are articles on new music, getting away to Florida for the winter, and "People, Places & Things That Aren't There Anymore." Some reviews of books, videos, movies and zines closes out this issue. (Sample page below.) "Ken's always on the move, always fixing something around the house, always working on some fascinating new project. My favorite part of every issue (is) "People, Places & Things (that aren't there anymore)," about old friends, old neighborhoods, and old places or businesses that Ken used to frequent." – Kris Mininger of Chorrada zine "Ken's zine is always kind of laid back in a way. ...

Issue #46 of the Ken Chronicles

Image
The Ken Chronicles #46, February, 2018 issue, is finished and will be mailed out to trading partners and subscribers in the last week of January. It is 24-pages, including the cover wrap, and contains a few regular features like the letters-of-comment column, and what I've been reading, drinking, and listening to/watching lately. For a change of pace, there's a new section of "People, Places & Things That Are STILL There," featuring items that have survived adversity or withstood the tests of time. In our Florida condo, I show how I closed up one doorway and installed a new door in a different part of a wall. Of course, there are always Updates, Oddities & Random Thoughts to round out the issue.   "Overall, calm and friendly, and a very ziney experience." – Donny Smith "A solid perzine, all around!" – Kris Mininger "Another solid issue – the Ken Chronicles never disappoints." – Kathy Mosseley "I want to chime in and say...

The latest issue of my Ken Chronicles is finished and available to all. Digest-sized and 28 pages, it’s mostly text with b&w photos and a color centerfold. Contains input & feedback from readers, the latest installment of people, places & things that aren’t there anymore, as well as a short story of a recent trip to Acadia National Park. There are also reviews of a book, the Broadway show, “Beautiful,” and several zines. Some random thoughts and stories fill out the rest of this issue. "Ken's been publishing zines for decades. This is his perzine about life as a retired auto mechanic who splits his time between Long Island and Florida. The column, 'People, Places & Things (that aren't there anymore)' is always my favorite part of the zine." – Kris Mininger (XD #43)   Available in the b&w print version, postpaid to the USA for $3 cash or payable to my PayPal account. Issue #44 of the Ken Chronicles

Image
#44 was released at the end of July, 2017, and the print version has 28 digest-sized pages in b&w. It contains more of the usual: readers' comments; People, Places & Things (that aren't there anymore); What I've been _______ Lately; and Updates, Oddities & Random Thoughts. The feature article describes our recent purchase of a Florida condo through an online foreclosure auction. Review by aj michel (Low Hug, Syndicate Product zines):      I've been a long-time reader of Ken's zines, stretching back to the PASSIONS APA. He's also contributed thoughtful, moving essays to my zine projects. Each issue of THE KEN CHRONICLES is full of interesting facts, product reviews and recommendations, and photos. I always learn something new from each issue.      For example, did you know that there used to be a coffin factory in Queens on Atlantic at124th Street? Coffins are one of those products you don't think about much until someone you ...

Issue #43 of the Ken Chronicles

Image
Much like #42, issue #43 is 28 digest-sized pages in b&w with a few color photos included. It contains the now-standard Input & Feedback; People, Places & Things (that aren't there anymore); What I've Been _______ Lately; and Updates, Oddities & Random Thoughts; there is also a story about our 2017 winter in Florida and some of the strange happenings during that time.   REVIEW BY MATT GHOLSON (Photozine Trader Blog): I recently contacted Ken Bausert and requested a trade and he was happy to do so.  I sent him my two photozines, which may be more accurately called chapbooks, and he sent me the last two issues of his perzine, “The Ken Chronicles.”  Though I’ve been interested in zines for a long time I’m really very new to them and I was very intrigued by the idea of a perzine, or personal zine.       By their nature it seems most zines are “perzines” in that they are usually written and edited by one person and ...

Issue #42 of the Ken Chronicles

Image
Issue #42 was released in February, 2017, and the print version is 28 digest-sized pages in b&w, with a few color photos scattered about. Containing the usual: Input & Feedback; People, Places & Things (that aren't there anymore); What I've Been _______ Lately; and Updates, Oddities & Random Thoughts.   Review by David La Bounty (publisher, Blue Cubicle Press): There isn’t much I can write about the Ken Chronicles that hasn’t been written more eloquently in previous issues of Xerography Debt. Ken’s perzine is filled with fantastic writing about the past and present moments in his life. My favorite part of every issue is the “What I’ve Been (reading /writing /watching /listening to/and so forth) Lately” column. In this issue, there are a couple of zine reviews, a wine review, and a Leon Russell tribute. Ken’s “Updates, Oddities, & Random Thoughts” column is also a must read. (Pay close attention to a poignant section on mortality buried in the para...
